January 2027 sitting · 12 weeks to go· FLK1 & FLK2
Resitting SQE1?Start with where the marks went
Only 42% passed SQE1 in July 2026. A resit works when it changes what you practise, not how hard you re-read. Take a 20-question diagnostic for the paper you are resitting and get a scaled score to read against the pass mark. Free, and no sign-up.
20 questions · about 35 minutes · booking for January closes on 20 November 2026
Three reasons people fail, and what fixes each
- 1Coverage gapsTopics read once and never tested, or subjects quietly skipped. The paper finds them.Fix: Practice by subject across all thirteen, with your weakest coming first.
- 2TechniqueYou knew the law and chose the second-best answer: “but that was true too”.Fix: Every option explained, so you see exactly which trap caught you.
- 3TimeMarks lost at the end of a session, or a handful of questions eating the clock.Fix: Full timed mocks in the January 2027 shape: 85 questions in 153 minutes per session.
A plan for the weeks to January
- Diagnose first.Don't revise before you measure. Start with the diagnostic, then a few hundred unseen questions across the paper.
- Rebuild the weak half. Take the bottom half of your subjects and end every topic with questions on it the same day.
- Mix and repeat. Mixed sets across everything, with every mistake coming back until you get it right.
- Finish with mocks. Two or three full timed papers in the real session shape, each followed by a proper review.
The longer version, with how to read your quintile, is in our resit guide.

- Do I have to resit both FLK1 and FLK2?
- No. The papers are marked separately, so you resit only the one you failed. A single-paper pass covers just that paper.
- How many times can I resit SQE1?
- Three attempts at FLK1 and three at FLK2, counted separately, inside a six-year window that starts on the first day of your first SQE assessment.
- When do I need to book the January 2027 sitting?
- Booking for the January 2027 sitting closes on 20 November 2026, according to the SRA's published booking window. Centres fill up before that, so check the SRA's booking page early.
- What does the diagnostic tell me?
- Twenty questions from the paper you choose, spread across its subjects, marked on the same 0-500 scale as the real assessment so you can read it against the pass mark. It is a starting point for the plan, not a verdict on any one subject.
- Do I need an account?
- Not to start. The diagnostic and the warm-up sets run as a guest. Save your progress with an email and password whenever you want to keep it.
