These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of SQEpractice (the “Service”) at sqe-practice.com. SQEpractice helps candidates prepare for the first part of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE1) in England and Wales. In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean SQEpractice.
By creating an account, using guest mode or buying an access pass, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.
Independence disclaimer
SQEpractice is an independent exam-preparation service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or Kaplan, which delivers the SQE for the SRA. We are not connected to any law school or training provider.
We use “SQE” and “SQE1” only to describe the exam you are preparing for. All trade marks belong to their owners.
Our questions, explanations, mocks and flashcards are our own original work. The questions are written to the SRA’s SQE1 specification and checked by qualified lawyers. They are not official SQE questions, and nothing on the Service is an official SQE result.
The Service is for exam preparation only. It is not legal advice, and you should not rely on it for a real legal matter.
Accounts
You can use the Service in guest mode or with a registered account. You can register with an email address and password, or sign in with Google. Guest mode saves your progress to a guest account without asking for your name or email address. You can turn it into a registered account at any time and keep your progress.
- An account is for one person. Do not share, sell or transfer your account or your login details.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Tell us promptly if you think someone has used your account without your permission.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these Terms.
Free access and access passes
You can use SQEpractice for free. A free account includes warm-up sets, a 20-question diagnostic for each paper (FLK1 and FLK2), one full mock for each paper and a limited amount of practice.
Paid access is sold only as one-off access passes. A pass opens every question and mock for the paper or papers it covers. We sell:
- FLK1 pass — £29.
- FLK2 pass — £29.
- FLK1 and FLK2 pass — £54.99.
- Renewal— £19. This carries an existing pass on for another 400 days, for the same papers. The new period starts when your current pass ends, or on the day you renew if it has already ended. You can renew from 30 days before your pass ends until 90 days after it ends.
- Upgrade— £26. This adds the second paper to a single-paper pass. It lasts until that pass ends and does not add extra time.
A pass runs for 400 days from the day you buy it. SQE1 is sat twice a year, so this covers your sitting and the next one. Your pass starts as soon as your payment is confirmed, and your account shows the date it ends.
- You pay once. A pass never renews by itself. We will not charge you again unless you choose to buy another pass, a renewal or an upgrade.
- Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP). The price shown is the total you pay.
- Payments are taken through Stripe Checkout. Stripe handles your card details. We never see or store your full card number.
- If you have a promotional code, you can enter it at checkout. Promotional codes have no cash value.
- After you pay, we email you a confirmation. Stripe also sends you a receipt.
- We may change our prices. A price change never affects a pass you have already bought.
Acceptable use
When you use the Service, you must not:
- Scrape, copy, republish, resell or share our questions, explanations, mocks, flashcards or other content, in whole or in part.
- Share your account, or give access to the Service to people who are not entitled to it.
- Misuse the AI term explanations, for example by sending look-ups automatically or trying to extract the instructions behind them.
- Try to manipulate your points or the leaderboard, for example with automated answering.
- Use a display name that is offensive or misleading, or that pretends to be someone else. Your display name appears on the leaderboard.
- Reverse engineer or decompile the Service, except where the law allows it.
- Interfere with the security or normal running of the Service, or put an unreasonable load on it.
- Use the Service for anything unlawful, or in a way that infringes other people’s rights.
AI term explanations
The Explain tool lets you select a word or short phrase in a question and get a short explanation of it, in English or another language. Explanations are written by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. To produce one, we send Anthropic the text you selected, the sentence around it and the language you chose. We do not send your name or email address. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Explanations are produced automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. They are a study aid. They are not legal advice and not an official statement of the law. Check anything important against your study materials or primary sources.
Daily limits apply to look-ups. The limits are lower in guest mode.
Intellectual property
The Service and its content, including the software, design, questions, explanations, mocks and flashcards, belong to SQEpractice or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own exam preparation, in line with these Terms.
Notes you write on the Service stay yours. You allow us to store them and show them back to you so we can provide the Service.
Service availability
We work to keep the Service running reliably, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors. It may be unavailable at times for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. We may improve or change features over time.
Refunds
If you would like a refund, contact us through the Support page or email support@sqe-practice.com. Please include the email address on your account and, if you have them, your order details.
- We review every request and reply within 48 hours.
- If we approve a refund, we send it to your original payment method through Stripe. It can take a few working days to reach your account.
- When a pass is refunded in full, the access it gave ends at that point.
- If you dispute a payment with your card provider, access under that pass is paused while the dispute is open. It is restored if the dispute is settled in our favour.
Your legal rights as a consumer apply in addition to this policy. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If you think you have been charged by mistake, contact us in the same way and we will look into it.
Our responsibility to you
If we break these Terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
The Service is for private study. We are not responsible to you for any business losses, such as loss of profit, business or opportunity.
The Service is a preparation tool. It does not guarantee any exam result. Your predicted SQE1 score is shown on the 0–500 scale used for SQE1 results. It is an estimate based on your practice, not an official result. Your real result depends on many things outside our control.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If we make a significant change, we will tell you in the Service or by email before it takes effect. A change never reduces access you have already paid for.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute about them or the Service will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can also bring proceedings in Scotland. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland.
Who we are and how to contact us
The Service is provided by SQEpractice. If you have a question about these Terms, email support@sqe-practice.com or use the Support page. We reply within 48 hours.
Service emails. We send the emails needed to run your account, such as address verification, password resets, purchase confirmations, a reminder before your pass ends and replies to support requests. We may also send progress updates and study reminders. If you register and then stop using the Service, we may send you a single message asking why, which may include a time-limited promotional code. This is a one-off message, not a newsletter. You can switch off progress and offer emails in Settings, and you can ask us to stop contacting you at any time by replying to any of these messages or through the Support page.
